AUTHORITIES arrested on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, a 65-year-old man who yielded P10 million worth of illegal drugs, a police official said on Wednesday.

Angelo Reyes was arrested in a drug bust conducted at No. 153 P. Rosales St. Alley 2, Unit 12, in Pateros on Tuesday.

He will be charged with violation of Section 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Guillermo Eleazar said Reyes yielded 1,500 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu), Toyota Altis, 10 bundles of P1,000 boodle money and other drug paraphernalia.

Based on their investigation, Eleazar said Reyes is connected to a group of Chinese nationals engaged in illegal drug trade in the southern part of Metro Manila and Laguna.

"Our government is exerting a concerted effort. All concerned agencies, including PDEA with the active support of the PNP and the Bureau of Customs, Philippine Coast Guard and other agencies are working together to combat large-scale drug trafficking not only in Metro Manila but across the country,” said Eleazar.

"We have some information and this is part of our case build-up operation to identify his clients and suppliers,” he added.

The suspect is not related to the late military chief and Defense secretary Angelo T. Reyes.

The drug bust was conducted by the joint elements of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), Pateros Police Station and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-NCR. (SunStar Philippines)
