THE Philippine National Police (PNP) will look into Ang Probinsyano's possible violation of their existing memorandum of agreement following the rape scene of a policewoman in uniform in the television series' recent episode.

“In light of the concern raised by netizens and police officers on the Ang Probinsiyano scene where policewomen in uniform were being harassed and raped, we will talk to the production staff of ABS-CBN and look at possible violation of our existing memorandum of understanding (MOU). Depending on the extent of the violation, we may warn them or rescind the said MOU,” PNP deputy spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kimberly Molitas said.

Several netizens slammed the rape scene, which shows a policewoman in uniform being harassed by a group of men headed by the character of Baron Geisler, who is a villain in the series.

“Sobra na po ang pinapakita ninyo sa inyong palabas. Sana po mas maging sensitibo kayo sa inyong mga manonood! Hindi po nakakabuting ipakita ang panggagahasa at pambabastos sa mga babae,” a netizen said.

Earlier, the PNP also called the attention of the Ang Probinsyano's production team due to the negative portrayal of policemen while the PNP tries to gain the public trust and positive perception. (SunStar Philippines)
