AUTHORITIES recovered on Wednesday morning, July 11, the alleged getaway vehicle in the killing of Trece Martires City, Cavite Vice Mayor Alexander Lubigan.

Cavite police chief Senior Superintendent William Segun said the black Toyota Hi-lux was recovered by the Maragondon police in Mabacao-Pantihan bridge in Barangay Tulay, Maragondon, around 6:55 a.m. Wednesday.

He said the vehicle does not have a license plate and conduction sticker.

Lubigan was gunned down on Saturday, July 7, while onboard his vehicle along Trece-Indang Road in Barangay Lucino, Trece Martires City.

Segun said, as seen in the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, the vehicle used by the unidentified assailants matched with the one abandoned in Maragondon.

The police are considering politics as the primary motive in the killing.

Lubigan was the third local government official killed recently in Luzon, after Tanauan City Mayor Antonio Halili on July 2 and General Tinio Mayor Ferdinand Bote on July 3. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo/SunStar Philippines)
