POLICE said DNA samples taken from teen murder victim Christine Lee Silawan and her self-confessed killer matched those found on a pair of scissors recovered from the suspect.

“DNA exam on the pair of scissors reveals positive findings of presence of DNA of both victim Christine Lee Silawan and suspect Renato Llenes in the said scissors,” Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Colonel Bernard Banac said.

The DNA test was conducted by the PNP Crime Laboratory.

Renato Llenes, 43, was arrested on April 9. He admitted to killing Silawan in the evening of March 10.

Silawan, 16, was found dead on March 11. She was half naked and her face was skinned to the bone.

Llenes said he was under the influence of drugs when he killed the girl. He skinned her face so she would not be easily identified.

Llenes was the second suspect arrested in the Silawan murder case. The other one was the victim’s 18-year-old ex-boyfriend.

Silawan’s ex-boyfriend allegedly also admitted to the killing when he was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation.

He later recanted and said he was tortured by the authorities. (SunStar Philippines)
