PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday, July 25, poked fun at the viral video of Narcavan, Ilocos Sur Mayor Chavit Singson that showed how he fell asleep while seated beside Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.

In the 10-second video, Gray was seen busy using her smartphone, while Singson seemed to be taking a nap as they were sitting beside each other.

The video clip showed that Singson was slowly turning his head in the direction of Catriona's shoulder, but he suddenly woke up with a jerk when the beauty queen noticed him.

Social media users dubbed the video as "Galawang Chavit."

Duterte, in his speech, teased Singson for his "gimmick."

"Narvacan Municipal Mayor Luis Chavit Singson, sir," Duterte said with vigor when he introduced Singson in an event held in Candon City, Ilocos Sur, drawing laughter from the crowd.

"Sir, ah you know, you have my deepest respect. Pero itong si Bong sige siya pinapapanood niya ‘yung gimmick mo doon sa... Sabi niya, 'Tignan mo talaga si Chavit oh.' (But Senator Lawrence Christopher 'Bong' Go showed me the video about your gimmick. He said I should take a look at your video)," he added.

In a television interview, Singson said he had already apologized to Gray over the video that went viral on social media.

Duterte jokingly said that he wished Singson's next gimmick would be "accomplished."

"Well, wala akong... We do not have that kind of opportunity to be... Ikaw ‘yon, sir, ang palagi eh (That's you sir who always does that). So we can only say good luck and may the next mission be accomplished," he told the Narcavan mayor. (SunStar Philippines)
