PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte is scheduled to meet with the country’s two gold medal-winning athletes, Carlos Yulo and Nesthy Petecio, at Malacañan Palace in Manila on Wednesday, October 16.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo announced this in a press conference with Palace reporters on Tuesday, October 15.

"They will be meeting with the President. May courtesy call sila (They will have a courtesy call)," he said.

Yulo is the first Filipino to bag the gold medal at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Stuggart, Germany.

Petecio, on the other hand, is the second Filipino to win the Aiba Women's Boxing Championships in Ulan-Ude Russia.

Yulo and Petecio will both receive P1 million each from the Philippine Sports Commission following their respective feats.

Panelo said Duterte might give additional cash incentives to the two Filipino athletes, since the President is a "generous" person.

"Si Presidente, generous 'yan (The President is generous). Let's see," he said. (NASE)
