PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte will deliver his fifth State of the Nation Address (Sona) on July 27, 2020 at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Thursday, July 16, that the President will either physically go to the House of Representatives or deliver his speech via video telecast from the Malago Clubhouse in Malacañang.

“The venue is confirmed, it is in Batasan, pero ang alam ko po hindi pa po 100 percent sure kung physically mag a-attend ang Presidente or mag b-broadcast po from Malago to Congress,” he said.

Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III earlier said the Malacañang has already reached out to several Senate officials for the Sona preparations.

He said the number of people allowed in the Batasang Pambansa will be limited to 50 people.

“I just received word that the President will deliver his Sona in Batasang Pambansa, House of Representatives on July 27. Preparations are underway,” Sotto said in an online forum.

“I agree with that decision of the Executive department. We must give the country and the public and the people the semblance that your government is up and about and ready to continue with its job, especially Congress," he said. (Jove Moya/SunStar Phiippines)
