THE Technical Education and Skills and Development Authority (Tesda) on Friday, June 9, 2023, welcomed the appointment of Suharto “Teng” Mangudadatu as its new director general, replacing Danilo Cruz.

In a statement, Tesda said it welcomed the appointment of the 14th head of the agency attached to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

"We are hopeful that Dr. Mangudadatu will continue and build on the ongoing campaigns of Tesda to make Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs accessible and relevant to more Filipinos," said Tesda.

It believes that his extensive experience as former governor of Sultan Kudarat and mayor of the Municipality of Lutayan would come in a handy.

"Dr. Mangudadatu’s expertise in governance and local communities will surely be beneficial in strengthening the country’s technical vocational education and training," said Tesda.

On Tuesday, Mangudadatu was appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as the new head of Tesda.

Prior to his appointment, Mangudadatu had served as governor of Sultan Kudarat from 2007 to 2016 and from 2019 to 2022. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
