THE low pressure area spotted off Virac, Catanduanes has developed into a tropical depression called “Ineng” as of 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 20.

State weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said it will start issuing severe weather advisories by 11 p.m. Tuesday.

This weather system was spotted at 1,025 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes earlier, at 3 p.m., Tuesday.

Moderate to heavy rains with lightning and strong winds due to thunderstorm are experienced over portions of Ifugao, Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, Quirino, and Southern Isabela which may persist one to two hours.

Residents of mountain slopes are advised of possible landslides, mudslides, rock slides and flash floods.

Meanwhile, light to moderate with occasional heavy rains are affecting over Northern Cebu which may continue for two to three hours.

Pagasa advised the public and concerned disaster risk reduction and management councils to monitor the weather condition and to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards. (SunStar Philippines)
