TROPICAL storm Kammuri has intensified into a typhoon as it slows down while moving west northwest, said the state weather bureau.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Adminstration (Pagasa) said the center of Typhoon Kammuri was located at 1,430 kilometers east of Visayas outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Pagasa said the typhoon is forecast to enter PAR between Saturday, November 30, and Sunday morning, December 1, and will be named "Tisoy" as the 20th Philippine tropical cyclone for 2019.

Kammuri moves slowly west northwest at 10 kilometers per hour (km/h) with maximum sustained winds of up to 120 km/h near its center and gusts up to 150 km/h.

Pagasa added Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) Number 1 may be raised over the eastern portion of Bicol Region-Eastern Visayas area on Sunday.

The rainbands of Kammuri may bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas on Monday, December 2. (EZN/SunStar Philippines)
