Virus cases rise by about 1,000 for 3rd consecutive day

CONFIRMED cases of coronavirus infection increased by about 1,000 for the third consecutive day on Wednesday, July 1, 2020.

The Department of Health (DOH) reported an additional 999 cases of coronavirus infection, bringing the total count to 38,511

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said they also listed 205 additional patients who have recovered, increasing the recoveries to 10,438.

Four more mortalities were reported, raising the death toll to 1,270.

Of the 999 additional cases, 595 were fresh cases and 404 were late cases. Most of the cases still came from the National Capital Region (NCR).

Fresh cases are those with test results that came out in the last three days while late cases are those that were released more than three days ago but were validated only in the last 24 hours.

Of the 595 fresh cases, 175 came from the NCR, 134 from Central Visayas and 286 from other regions.

Among the late cases, 131 were from the NCR, 57 from Central Visayas and 216 from other regions. (Marites Villamor-Ilano/SunStar Philippines)
