FOR the second consecutive day, the Department of Health (DOH) reported zero deaths from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) due to technical issues in the surveillance system.

The DOH case bulletin on Saturday, September 25, 2021, listed 16,907 new Covid-19 cases and 27,121 new recoveries.

The new infections brought the cumulative case count to 2,470,235.

The positivity rate declined, but remained elevated at 23.6 percent on September 23. A total of 74,606 samples were tested. Four laboratories were unable to submit their testing output to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.

The Covid-19 death toll remained at 37,405, with a case fatality rate of 1.51 percent.

"No deaths were reported today due to technical issues in CovidKaya. The Department of Information and Communications Technology is currently addressing issues encountered by the system.," the DOH case bulletin stated. CovidKaya is the department’s epidemiological surveillance system.

“When the issue is resolved, the succeeding increase in deaths in the following reports will be due to the previous days’ backlogs,” the agency added.

The total recoveries increased to 2,267,720, including the new recoveries.

There remained 165,110 active cases nationwide, of which 0.7 percent were critical, 1.6 percent were severe, 3.12 percent were moderate, 81.3 percent were mild and 13.3 percent were asymptomatic. (HDT / SunStar Philippines)
