15 families evacuated homes in Barangay Pit-os

FIFTEEN families living near the Butuanon River in Barangay Pit-os evacuated to the barangay's gymnasium on Monday, January 16, a school official said.

Marivic Famador, Pit-os National High School Disaster Risk Reduction Management head, said 15 families evacuated for fear of continuous rise of the river near their homes.

Earlier, a house along the Butuanon River in Barangay Pit-os, was destroyed and parts of it were swept away by flash flood due to heavy rains. The owner is safe.

Famador added that the Department of Social Welfare and Development provided relief goods to the affected families.

Meanwhile, a tree fell down along the road of Barangay Pit-os due to Monday’s heavy rain.

Cebu City Police Office, in a Twitter post, said officials of Police Station 8 in Talamban encountered road blockage in the said barangay on their way to Binaliw village to conduct an area assessment.
