2 armed men shot dead in Barangay Bacayan, Cebu City

TWO armed men were shot dead at Sitio Common, Villa Leyson, Barangay Bacayan, Cebu City, on Wednesday, July 6.

Confirmed dead by the responding Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (Eruf) personnel were a certain "Bitoy" and "Erning."

According to police investigation, a neighbor approached Senior Police Officer 3 Filomeno Mendaros of Cebu Intelligence Branch (CIB) Cebu City Police Office and Police Officer 3 Rodel Abejuela of Mabolo Police Station 4, who are both residents of Barangay Bacayan, and reported that two armed persons were sighted in the area.

Mendaros and Abejuela immediately responded and introduced themselves as police officers. But one of the armed men shot the responding police, causing the cops to retaliate and neutralize them

The suspects sustained multiple gunshot wounds in their bodies, resulting in their deaths.

Two caliber .38 revolver with live ammunitions, two fired shells, one KL-168 weighing scale, one red sling bag containing assorted drug paraphernalia, one pack of marijuana weighing 0.2915 grams, two Samsung mobile phones, three Myphones and one Cherry Mobile phone, one Airwalk wristwatch, one pack of marijuana seeds, one black men's wallet containing identification cards, and a photocopy of motorcycle registrations were recovered from the scene.

The recovered items were turned over to Cebu City Police Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit for proper disposition. (Apple Jay P. Ortega, PIT intern/Sunnex)
