THE two young men arrested last Monday in Manapla, Negros Occidental, for allegedly robbing a Ceres Liner bus over the weekend were released from detention Tuesday night.

Senior Police Officer 1 Nilo Deypalan, assistant investigator of Manapla Municipal Police Station, said that Marco Parcon, 26, and Gabriel Constantino, 24, both of Barangay Tortosa were released from police custody around 8 p.m. after the lapse of their 36-hour reglementary period.

Deypalan said they failed to file robbery hold-up charges within the reglementary period because there was no fiscal available at the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office Tuesday, November 7, due to their scheduled hearings.

The assistant investigator said the filing of charges will be pursued the following day.

Three days ago, Parcon and Constantino, together with their unidentified companion, boarded the bus in Silay City.

They robbed all passengers as well as the driver and conductor at gunpoint upon reaching Bangga Ibus in Barangay Tortosa.

The suspects carted away the conductor’s fare collection amounting to P1,300 and his P900 cash; and the cellular phones and cash of five passengers.

Both suspects were arrested after they were positively identified by the bus conductor and one of the passengers when they were invited by police for investigation.

Police has still no lead on the whereabouts of the other suspect.
