TWO policemen, a barangay official and six others have been arrested for indiscriminate firing three days before the New Year revelry.

This was disclosed by National Capital Region (NCRPO) Chief Oscar Albayalde at a press conference on Thursday.

The two policemen, whose identities were not disclosed, are now under restrictive custody. They are facing possible dismissal, according to the NCRPO chief.

Albayalde warned all policemen that the leadership of the Philippine National Police will show no mercy to those who will indiscriminately fire their guns.

"Sa ating kapulisan, sana ay huwag na tayong mag-engage sa indiscriminate firing (To our policemen, please don't engage in indiscriminate firing)," he said.

"Mahigpit ang bilin ng chief PNP (The PNP chief has given strict instructions). There's no second chance for this, no mercy," he added.

Aside from the two policemen, seven others, including a barangay official and a security guard, have also been arrested for indiscriminate firing.

Albayalde said police will closely monitor areas where there are recorded incidents of death and injuries due to stray bullets.

Among these areas are Navotas, Manila, Baseco, Maharlika in Taguig and Caloocan. (SunStar Philippines)
