MANILA -- Metro Manila, as well as some parts of Cavite, will be experiencing a two-hour rotating brownouts from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today (Monday), according to Manila Electric Company (Meralco).

This is due to malfunctioning devices in Sual Power Plant in Pangasinan and Masinloc Coal Plant in Zambales.

Meralco said a unit in Sual Plant encountered a problem while one of Masinloc's boiler units gave up. Other power plants can not give extra energy to compensate for the loss because they are also under maintenance.

“The places are tentative because it is possible that there will be a change,” said Dina Lomotan of Meralco public affairs.

Affected places in Cavite are Tanza, Naic, General Trias, Imus, Bacoor, and Dasmariñas.

In Quezon City: Project 4, Bagong Bahay, Marilag, Katipunan, Murphy, Balara, Milagrosa, Tandang Sora, Project 8, part of Pugad Lawin, Pasong Tamo. Bahay Toro, Batasan, San Francisco, Loyola Heights, and Diliman.

Las Piñas, Zapote and some places in Parañaque such as Pamplona and BF Homes may be affected.

Also projected to be affected in Valenzuela are Ugong, Baesa, Apolonio Samson, and Balintawak in Caloocan, North Bay. Navotas, Dagat-Dagatan, Grace Park Caloocan and Bankulas in Navotas.

Even certain areas in Bulacan such as San Jose del Monte, Norzagaray, Minuyan, Plaridel, Bustos, Banga, Aguinaya, Guiguinto, and Bagbagin in Bocaue could be part of the rotating brownouts. (Angela Casauay/Sunnex)
