2013 Zamboanga siege victims get new houses

THE National Housing Authority (NHA) has turned over on Thursday, September 7, some 433 stilt houses to families displaced by the September 2013 siege.

The houses that were turned over were built at Phase 3 of Vale Vista Subdivision in Barangay Kasanyangan, Zamboanga City.

NHA District Manager Al-Khwarizmi Indanan and City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar led the turnover of the houses that were constructed under the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction (Z3R).

Indanan has advised the beneficiaries to report to his office should they discover defects of their houses so that immediate repair can be done.

The 21-day siege broke out on September 9, 2013 when hundreds of Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) members loyal to MNLF leader Nur Misuari infiltrated five coastal villages of the city.

The 433 houses that were turned over is the second and last batch of housing units to be occupied in Vale Vista 3 which is constructed with a total of 866 units.
