4 died in vehicular accidents

URDANETA CITY -- For the nth time, drinking and driving was again proven to be a deadly combination as four youngsters died early morning Tuesday when their Honda Civic car running on high speed rammed a mango tree along a highway here.

City Police Chief Harries Fama identified the victims as Marben Velasco, 21, driver of the Honda Civic and his companions Arlene Orcales, Don Gomez, one unidentified person.

Initial investigation disclosed that the four just came from a drinking spree at the nearby Asingan town and were on their way to Urdaneta City.

The vehicular accident happened around 1 a.m. at Barangay Bactad, this city.

In San Carlos City, a five-year-old boy died while being treated at a hospital for the injuries he sustained being bumped by a van at Barangay Cacaritan.

Reports said John Clared Soriano and his aunt were crossing the road to buy something at a sari-sari store when he was bumped by the van.

The victim was rushed to the Elguera General Hospital but died while undergoing treatment.

The vehicle was being driven by a certain Roderick Rosario of M. Soriano Street, Urdaneta City.
