4 injured in bus-truck collision

FOUR people, including a child, were injured in a head-on collision along the national highway in an east coast village of Zamboanga City, the police reported on Wednesday, October 25.

The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 24, at Sitio Tigbao in the village of Licomo, 83.99 kilometers east of the city.

The Police Station 1 identified the victim as the following: Mercidita Ada, 35, Homer Guzano, 10, Jolito Dapanan, Jr., 19, and Rovico Tarona, 44, all passengers of an inter-provincial commercial bus.

Investigation said that a cargo truck driven by Renato Beronio, 38 and a passenger bus driven by Teofines Sedeno, 42 collided while traveling on opposite directions on a descending curved road in Vitali.

The cargo truck loading with empty bottles of soft drinks was traveling to Zamboanga City from Pagadian City while the bus loaded with 39 passengers to Pagadian City from this city at the time of the incident.

The police said the injured passengers, who sustained minor injuries, were rushed to the Vitali lying-in clinic and later transferred to a hospital in the city. (SunStar Philippines)
