4,000 delegates in SRAA Meet

AMAS, North Cotabato - Some 4,000 delegates from the province of North Cotabato are competing in the ongoing Socsksargen Regional Athletic Association Meet that opened Saturday, February 18, at the Cotabato Sports Complex.

Department of Education Schools Division Superintendent Omar Obas, in a press conference at the Provincial Capitol of North Cotabato, said the province is honored to host the athletic meet which is graced by athletes from coming from Socsksargen, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, General Santos City and Kidapawan City.

“It is a very challenging opportunity for us to host this big event. But we are grateful as we may able to showcase the beauty of the province, and the talent and skills of the Cotabateños,” Obas said.

He sees their hosting as a venue to strengthen partnership with local government units and stakeholders of the province.

He added hosting such big event needs coordination and participation of everybody.

The athletic meet will introduce new sports including billiards, wushu and futsal.

Provincial Board Member Cris Cadungan, meanwhile, assured that the police and military, including other emergency responders, are on full alert to ensure the safety of the delegates, visitors and spectators of the event. (With ABM)
