MASANTOL – Some 49 self-confessed drug users from two villages in this town admitted themselves on Wednesday to the local reformation center dubbed “Bahay Pagbabago”.

The said drug reformists will be the fourth batch from Barangay Sto. Niño and second for Barangay Sagrada.

Police Chief Inspector Julius Javier, this town’s police chief, said that there are already 140 drug users who successfully graduated from Bahay Pagbabago since it was first opened in October.

“Actually, dapat shouldered na ‘yan ng barangay, but since hindi pa nila kaya, PNP muna at local government ang nagtake-over. Anyway, isa lang naman ang aim nito, to reform ‘yung mga kababayan na minsan naligaw ng landas,” he said.

Javier said that there are still 727 drug surrenderers who are supposed to undergo reformation as part of the campaign against illegal drugs of the current administration.

He disclosed that there are total of 916 drug surrenderers in town, wherein 58 are identified as pushers and the remaining 858 are users.
