OLONGAPO CITY -- At least six people were killed in a landslide brought by heavy rainfall since Sunday in Subic town.

Subic Mayor Jay Khonghun said the still unidentified fatalities were killed after their houses in Barangay Wawandue were buried in the landslide.

He said another landslide was also reported in Barangay San Isidro at 6 a.m. Monday.

Khonghun said rescuers are trying to save at least 10 residents from the first landslide and six others in the second landslide who were believed to be inside their buried houses.

He said a state of calamity was already declared in their town due to the severe effect of the heavy rainfall in their area.

He said he sought help from concerned government agencies for more rescue equipment and relief goods for the evacuees. (PNA/Sunnex)
