A TOTAL of 82 teams, the biggest turnout in the league's history, will show their wares as the 8th GS CuP Basketball Tournament opens on August 14 at the Gaisano Grand Citimall SkyGym.

Ad and Promo head Karla Corcino, in a press statement, said they are elated by this year's number of entries.

"This is like a dream come true as we only thought of getting more schools to participate and we had just broken the record," Corsino said.

Corsino said the Holy Trinity College of Gen. Santos City, A.O. Floreindo National High School of Panabo City, and Holy Cross of Babak from the Island Garden City of Samal will join the field dominated by Davao City teams.

HTC is entered in the collegiate men's division while AOFNHS and HCB are seeing action in the junior boys event.

The tournament, sanctioned by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) regional director Regino "Boy" Cua, also features the boys mini, cadet boys, junior girls and college women's divisions.

The coaches' meeting is set today, Saturday, at the 8th floor of Gaisano Grand Corporate Center. (MLSA)
