KOREA has invaded Cebu with its colorful culture. With this, a grand celebration was held last Sept. 29 to Oct. 2, the sixth Cebu Korea Day, with various activities showcasing all aspects of Korean culture and traditions—ranging from Korea’s cultural dance, traditional costume, and food, to Korean movies and Korean popular music (KPop).

The four-day Korean festival opened with the Cebu KPop Star Grand Finals, which was held at The Northwing Atrium of SM City Cebu, where 25 contestants, composed of groups and soloists, sang and danced to the beat of Korean pop music while imitating their favorite Korean artists.

Royal Blu emerged as the winner bagging an award of P50,000 with Project Enigma as first runner-up garnering P30,000 and XOXO Chemical Edition as second runner up. Groups X and Euinox won special awards.

To further delight fans of Kpop Music, a guest idol group from South Korea, Double 8, made a guest appearance and performed its own songs as well as covers of other KPop groups.

The Korean festival was organized by Cebu Korean Association (CKA) Inc., with the help of the Cebu City Government and SM City Cebu.
