POLICEMEN have arrested two men allegedly involved in the abduction of the son of Mayor Eddie Quimbo of Labason, Zamboanga del Norte, a police official announced Saturday.

Chief Superintendent Billy Beltran, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, said the suspects -- Soudi Pondusan Banguih and Edilberto Sarmao Albino -- were arrested around 6:30 a.m. Thursday in the municipality of Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte.

Beltran said Banguih and Albino were identified through the closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage that showed the two suspects as among the six gunmen who abducted businessman Jelster Ed Quimbo last Wednesday night.

Beltran said the two suspects were also positively identified by a witness, Jolito Timanono Rodillos, who was with the victim at the time of the incident.

Banguih and Albino were detained pending the filing of appropriate charges against them, Beltran said.
