GOVERNMENT troops have arrested an Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) member who bolted from jail almost eight years ago in Basilan province, a top military official said Saturday, September 30.

Lieutenant General Carlito Galvez Jr., Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) chief, identified the arrested escapee as Boy Indama.

Galvez said Indama was arrested by joint military and police forces around 12:45 p.m. Thursday in Lamitan City.

The military official said Indama has a standing warrant of arrest for kidnapping and serious illegal detention.

He said Indama belongs to the group of Abu Sayyaf leader Furuji Indama.

He said Indama was among the 31 hardened criminals, including ASG members, who escaped when more than 100 gunmen stormed on December 13, 2009 the Basilan provincial jail in the village of Sumagdang in Isabela City, the province’ capital. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
