ANGELES CITY --- A city ordinance which guarantees the granting of discounts and other incentives to solo parents was adopted by the provincial government Bulacan and other local government units in Pampanga and even in Metro Manila.

This was learned from Councilor Amos Rivera, who authored City Ordinance Number 356 Series of 2014 (Solo Parent Ordinance) pursuant to Republic Act Number 8972 otherwise known as Solo Parents Welfare Act of 2000.

“I never expected that the solo parent ordinance that I authored will be adopted by different regions. The province of Bulacan, City of San Fernando, Metro Manila have initiated their respective ordinances to provide discounts and incentives to solo parents-members,” Rivera said.

Rivera said that city government is also providing livelihood to registered solo parents in the city.

The city official urged the solo parents to secure accreditation from the local government to avail of the discounts from establishments.

Rivera said his office has organized a group, in cooperation with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), to look for solo parents in the city.
