Apec lockdown protocol remains in effect in major roadways

MANILA -- Despite the departure of some leaders in the just concluded Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Leaders' Summit, the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) announced that its lockdown protocol is still in effect until late Friday afternoon.

Roads still closed to traffic include Roxas Boulevard from Manila Hotel, P. Burgos Street leading to the NAIA Road, said PNP-HPG head Chief Superintendent Arnold Gunnacao.

The above-mentioned roadways were closed since Thursday and will be opened to traffic around 4 p.m. Friday.

NAIA Road leading to Terminal 1 will be closed 9 a.m. until 12:15 noon to facilitate the departure of Apec delegations. It will be opened briefly and will be closed again from 1:45 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Also closed to traffic starting 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. are Edsa to Ayala Boulevard to Arnaiz Avenue to Magallanes Complex.
