Aquino approves San Simon’s GPBP

SAN SIMON -- President Benigno Aquino III, together with the House of Representatives, has approved the proposed Grassroots Participatory Budgeting Process (GPBP) of San Simon town.

The GPBP, formerly known as Bottom-up Budgeting, is used to fund the projects of local governments which will provide for the needs of the community.

Some of the approved projects and their allotted budget are desilting of creeks, P1 million; repair of classrooms, P2.8 million, upgrading of the Bemonc facility, P2 million; provision of additional capital assistance to Simonians, P1.3 million; and provision for Cash for Work, P1.3 million.

The proposed projects were carefully studied by the Department of Budget and Management and then approved by the President.

The GPBP will be coordinated by local government unit headed by Mayor Leonora Wong with the local government operations officer and the Department of Interior and Local Government Regional Office on the start-up of the proposed projects.
