PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III is set to sign into law on Wednesday a bill that will improve the care and protection of children affected by disasters.

Aquino will ink Republic Act 10821, otherwise known as the "Children's Emergency Relief and Protection Act" in Malacanang.

RA 10821 is a consolidation of Senate Bill 3034 and House Bill 5285, which aims to provide children with comprehensive relief and protection in the aftermath of disasters.

It establishes a strategic program of action wherein the government can immediately respond to the needs of children, protect their rights and facilitate rehabilitation.

The lawmakers push for the passage of the bill following the Super Typhoon Yolanda that struck most parts of the Philippines in 2013, affecting many children. (SDR/Sunnex)
