THE 6th Tam-Awan International Arts Festival kicked off in Baguio City on Wednesday with a strong message for environment protection.

Nearly 50 bikers set off from Tam-Awan village to the city‘s business district to take to the road their campaign to fight the air pollution that is menacing the city.

At the same time, Tam–Awan artist Art Lozano, holding a pine tree sapling and wearing a G-string, walked the length of Session Road, asking passersby to write a message of love for the environment on small note cards covering his body.

“We can no longer save the trees cut but we can have the power to transform the environment through planting new trees,” Lozano said.

He ended his performance with a 30-minute vigil at the Upper Session Road on a tree stump near SM City Baguio.

Lozano headed back to Tam-awan Village to plant his sapling and bury the messages he had collected.
