THE Regional Joint Security Coordinating Center (RJSCC) has started the assessment on the applications for exemption on the election gun ban by politicians in Zamboanga Peninsula.
Zamboanga Peninsula election director Helen Aguila-Flores said they received a total of 24 gun ban exemption and permit application from politicians in the region for security detail.
Flores said they have five days to act on the applications submitted to her office.
She also said that the police and military have already completed the assessment and evaluation on the 17 of the 24 applications.
The RJSCC comprises of representatives from the Commission on Elections (Comelec), Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
All permit-to-carry firearms issued to licensed gun holders are deemed revoked when the election gun ban took effect Sunday.
The gun ban is aimed to ensure the conduct of honest, orderly and peaceful elections in May this year. (Bong Garcia)
