NIGHT entertainers in the Summer Capital will soon undergo drug testing.

Baguio City Association of Bars and Entertainers (BABES) president Allan Bandoy said in a bid to rid drug users in their establishments, members of their organization will cooperate with the police on their intensified anti drug campaign.

"Nag-voluntary drug testing na iyong mga entertainers and employees natin. Nasa 80% na ang nagpapadrug test para naman malinis din natin ang ating mga bars," Bandoy told Sun*Star Baguio.

Around 50 registered BABES entertainers have already surrendered to the authorities due to involvement in drugs.

"Iyong mga gumagamit nag-voluntary surrender na sila and they are temporarily suspended sa work nila. Kaya ang ginagawa namin ngayon kapag may lumapit sa amin na user from our entertainers we ask them to surrender para naman hindi sabihin ng iba that we are tolerating them," Bandoy stated.

Bandoy added their organization have decided to include drug testing as one of the requirements for future applicants.

"We had a meeting with the Baguio City Police Office and we will help in their campaign against drugs," Bandoy assured.

Meanwhile, BCPO chief George Daskeo stated they are looking at bars and club in the city as one of the major places of drug trade and usage.

"May mga nakukuha kasi kaming mga reports na sa mga bars nga may drug trade at may mga gumagamit that's why we are strengthening our campaign especially sa mga entertainers natin para maging aware sila sa epekto ng droga," Daskeo told Sun*Star Baguio.

"At kung may mga users or pushers sa kanila, we encourage them to stop what they are doing and to surrender habang maaga. Kasi talagang puspusan ang ating pagmamatyag sa ating mga bars, hindi lang sa mga bars kundi sa buong City para ma eradicate natin ang drugs problem dito," Daskeo ended.
