BAGUIO City has brought home nine gold, one silver, and three bronze medals from the Luzon leg of the Philspada (Philippine Sports Association for the Differently Abled) National Games Luzon Leg in Manila earlier this month.

Jaime Manginga and Agustina Bantiloc topped the medal tally for Baguio with three golds each.

Manginga won the men’s javelin throw (6kg), men’s discus throw (1kg), and the men’s shot put (4kg).

Bantiloc ruled the women’s javelin throw (6kg), women’s shot put (3kg), and women’s discus throw (1kg).

Former policeman Allan Campos took the gold in the men’s javelin throw (8kg) and the silver in the men’s discus throw (1.75kg).

Winning bronze medals were Romeo Tayawa in the discus throw (1kg), Daniel Padilan (javelin throw 6kg), Giovanni Ola (javelin throw 8kg), and John Timon (javelin throw 6kg).

Baguio sent 15 athletes to the event.

Last year, Baguio had 12-7-1 gold-silver-bronze haul.

City Sports Coordinator Gaudencio Gonzales said he is happy with the modest medal count despite fielding a smaller delegation.

“We congratulate our PWD’s. Marami na itong medals nila actually. Imagine we only brought 15 compared to the 50 athletes last year and the tally of medals are not that far,” Gonzales said.
