Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) Southern Mindanao Region protests the appointment of Police Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum as the new director of the Davao City Police Office.

Bayan spokesperson Sheena Duazo Monday, April 3, said Tagum has been involved in many incidents including the April 1 dispersal of farmers in Kidapawan last year.

"Lest we forget that Colonel Alexander has blood debt to farmers in Kidapawan City during the April 1 Kidapawan massacre last year. Lest we forget that Tagum has a long established record of being a fascist head of police in North Cotabato," Duazo said.

Duazo claimed Tagum is directly responsible for the incident that killed two persons and wounded 50 others.

She added the mere presence of Tagum and his leadership of the city police spells looming human rights violations and abuse of authority and killings in Davao City.

"It is disgusting to note that instead of holding him accountable over various crimes, he is being hailed by the government," Duazo said.

Duazo added Tagum's deployment in Davao City will surely be met by resistance as he would be held accountable over Kidapawan massacre and various crimes.
