Benguet asked to protest Pacquiao-Mayweather outcome

THE Benguet Provincial Board is being asked to consider a resolution protesting the outcome of the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. last May.

The resolution was presented by the Lanao del Norte Provincial Board, which condemned the decision of the three fight judges to declare Mayweather as the winner via a unanimous decision.

The Benguet council discussed the resolution during Monday's regular session.

The resolution noted that Judges Glenn Feldman, Burt Clements and Dave Moretti, named "white," "blue" and "pink" on the scorecard, all awarded Mayweather victory, but in every column where they mark their scores at the end of the round, the American is labeled as being in the red corner.

The Lanao del Norte council said "the judges blatantly erred in rendering an obtrusive and palpable judgment of the fight considering it was very apparent and plainly visible to the viewing public that Mr. Floyd Mayweather Jr. was using dirty boxing tactics by running and tightly hugging Manny Pacquiao when he was pushed to the corner of the ring almost breaking his arms if only to prevent his onslaught."

It said the same resolution has been forwarded to the Senate and the House of Representatives for "strong representation and support for the investigation and review of the fight by the Nevada State Athletics Commission in the interest of fairness and justice to Congressman Manny Pacquiao and the Filipino nation in general."
