BJMP prepares for 16th Correctional sports

VARIOUS sports will be the highlight of the Baguio Jail Management and Penology as they celebrate the 16th National Correctional Consciousness Week (Nacocow), which will be held at the Quadrangle of BJMP next month.

Inmates Welfare and Development Officer Romel Basilan said due to lack of time their office decided to hold the sports events this September, although the Nacocow is supposed to be scheduled on October.

The jail officer said the participants are all the inmates as well as officers and personnel of the BJMP, BCPO Police, City Hall Employees, DepEd, Beneco and from the office of parole and probation employees.

Basilan said events to be played are: basketball, volleyball men and women, badminton, scrabble, chess, table tennis and parlor games.

Jail Warden Rebecca Pawid said the sports activities will promote sportsmanship, camaraderie and is one way of health benefits especially to all the inmates. (Faisa Mariano)
