Bomb scare hits Bohol hospital

(UPDATED) -- A bomb scare sent patients and medical personnel scampering outside a hospital in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, Tuesday afternoon, September 19.

Special Weapons and Tactics personnel, Quick Response Teams, and Explosive and Ordnance received a text information about the presence of an explosive at Borja Family Hospital in Gallares Street, Barangay Poblacion 2, Tagbilaran City, at 3 p.m.

As of 5:22 p.m., Bohol Police Director Senior Superintendent Filipe Natividad declared the situation cleared.

Patients were advised to go back to the hospital.

Police Regional Office-Central Visayas Director Jose Espino, in a text message to SunStar Cebu, said the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) meetings in Panglao are still peaceful.

"There is no threat in the Asean meetings in Panglao and it is still peaceful," Espino said.

Bohol is the venue for the three-day Asean 34th Maritime Transport technical working group meetings that will start on September 21, Thursday.

K-9 units are also brought to sniff any possible presence of explosives in the area. (JOB/SunStar Cebu)
