Bomb scare hits private school in Bacolod City

A LATE morning bomb threat suspended the classes of Trinity Christian School (TCS) in Bacolod City Tuesday.

Senior Inspector Elmer Bonilla, head of Police Station 4, said TCS staff Judith Vinco received a telephone call from an unidentified man telling her, “palukpan ko karon ang eskwelahan” (I will bomb the school later).

She received the call around 11:10 a.m., prompting school principal Esther Jane Uy to call for assistance from 117 emergency hotline in Metro Manila, which directed the personnel of Police Station 4 to immediately respond.

The students were gathered at the covered court while the police conducted an inspection of the school buildings.

Bomb expert Demi Montoya of Bacolod City Police Office also arrived to double check the school’s vicinity.

After two hours of thorough inspection, police declared the area negative of any explosive.

It was just a prank call, Bonilla said, adding that they cannot trace the identity of the caller because the telephone has no caller ID.

Bonilla said they held a meeting with the school officials, and the principal advised the students to return the following day.
