Nietes accomplished a feat that no other Filipino has achieved—winning three world title fights in Mexico against Mexicans.

His last was for the defense of his World Boxing Organization mini flyweight crown against Mario Rodriguez at the Auditorio Luis Estrada Medina in Guasave, Sinaloa.

Today, Nietes will visit Mandaue City Hall where he will receive an award. He will also have a press conference at the Maya Mexican Restaruant at 11:30 a.m.

Nietes, 28, is a month shy of surpassing Ben Villalfor as the fourth-longest reigning Pinoy champion. Nietes won his crown on Sept. 30, 2007.

Nietes is scheduled to have his fifth title defense in the Philippines in December possibly against No.2 contender Pigymy Kokietgym of Thailand.
