A BUSINESSMAN was shot to death outside a cockpit at Hacienda Fortuna, Barangay Buluangan in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental at around 4 p.m. on Monday.

Police identified the fatality as Wilbert Chiu, 50, of Rizal Street, Barangay 3. He owns a money lending firm and also has rent-a-pedicab business in the city.

Superintendent Jacob Crisostomo, head of San Carlos City Police Station, said Chiu was sitting inside a store outside the cockpit when three unidentified men also sat in the next table.

After a few minutes, the three assailants, believed to be in their early 20’s fired at Chiu and escaped.

Chiu was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead.

Police are still investigating the incident.
