Butil Party-list aids flood-stricken farmers

CANDABA -- The Butil Partylist has extended financial assistance to farmers who were severely affected by the recent typhoons.

Partylist Representative Agapito Guanlao said Candabeño farmers who cannot plant their land yet can have an alternative source of income.

Through the party's cash-for-work program, a farmer may start a livelihood by doing community works.

"Habang hindi sila nakakapagtanim, at least mayroon silang kaunting kabuhayan na pwede nilang gawing business o panggastos sa araw-araw," Guanlao said.

Farmers who already recovered their farmlands but do not have the resources are also given assistance through seed distribution.

Some of the seeds given are palay, mais, monggo and other kinds of vegetables, Guanlao said.

The re-electing partylist is also funding the construction of farm-to-market roads for the speedy transport of farmers’ crops.

Guanlao said one of their road projects is the vital extension of Barangay Bahay-Pare to Poblacion road.

Aside from these, the partylist is also providing scholarship to farmers' children.
