Cacao yield in city reaches 260MT

CACAO production in Davao City reached 258.38 metric tons (MT) in the first quarter of this year, the Davao City Agriculturist Office (CAO) has reported.

In a data furnished to Sun.Star Davao by CAO farm division officer-in-charge Lorna D. Alderite, a total of 233.65 hectares (has) have already been planted with cacao in the city.

Calinan recorded the highest number of production with 151.2 MT covering 128 has., Tugbok came in second with 77.6 MT, covering 73.5 has., followed by Marilog with 11.2 MT. (14 has.), Toril produced 7.38 MT (7.15 has) , Talomo with 6 MT (6 has) and Baguio 5 MT (5 has).

Alderite pointed out that these figures were gathered by their field technicians and reported it to their office.

Last year, the total production of cacao in the city reached 2,856.04 MT. Calinan recorded the highest number of production last year with 880.54 MT followed by Baguio (565.4 MT), Marilog (505.2 MT), Tugbok (427.65 MT), and Paquibato (360.32 MT).
