GINGOOG City’s Allan Cantonjos and Cagayan de Oro’s Christopher Randolph Dalauta shared the spotlight in the 2017 Kaamulan Chess Tournament held recently in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.

Cantonjos, an enlisted Airforce man, topped the festival’s rapid tourney edging closest pursuer Justin Guian Olivares for the first prize.

Youthful Dalauta and fellow Kagay-anon Nazario Ubanan placed third and

fourth, respectively, with Benny Edpalina settling at fifth spot.

The former RTU-Manila varsity mainstay Dalauta, however, surprised Cantonjos for the top honor in the blitz side of the annual Kaamulan chessfest supervised by Bobby Jay Dinlayan with Jun Cuizon as chief arbiter.

Rounding up the top 5 behind Dalauta and Cantonjos were Bukidnon’s Jeriel Manlimbana, Ramil Sayaboc and Ronnie Chavez. (LLS)
