Capitol files cases vs quarry operator

John Roger "Darlah" Orquiza

PROVINCIAL Legal Officer Jose Maria Valencia said Wednesday, February 21, the Capitol already filed cases for falsification of public documents against a quarry operator in Kabankalan City for allegedly using fake coupons, before the City Prosecutor’s Office on Monday.

Valencia said that with the cases filed against Melvin Gemotea Ibañez, it would be up to the prosecutor to assess all the 3,049 counts of falsification cases faced by the quarry operator.

“We have been discussing the cases with our environment lawyers. We are asking the prosecutor to hear the case first and later we will abide by his order,” he added.

Ibañez allegedly used fake quarry coupons for the extraction and delivery of sand and gravel by private operators for three years and reportedly owes the Provincial Government P45 million in penalties after committing 3,049 tax ordinance violations.

Valencia said the falsification case cannot be subjected to mediation.
