Capitol to file raps vs quarry operator

John Roger "Darlah" Orquiza

THE Provincial Government will file charges for falsification of public documents against a quarry operator in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental who used fake quarry coupons for the extraction and delivery of sand and gravel by private operators for three years.

Provincial Legal Officer Jose Maria Valencia said Friday they will charge Melvin Gemotea Ibañez on Monday, February 12, before the Kabankalan City Prosecutor’s Office.

“I’ve been to the Hall of Justice and I will endorse the affidavit complaints,” Valencia said.

Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said that such illegal action is non- negotiable.

“Either he pays or he goes to prison,” the governor said.

Ibañez reportedly went to the Capitol in an attempt to settle the case.

The quarry operator reportedly owes P45 million in penalties after committing 3,049 tax ordinance violations.
