Cebu’s Darling Dude stopped at NAIA

A FORMER housemate of the reality television show Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) was held Tuesday night at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on suspicion of possessing marijuana.

Divine Maitland-Smith, who was dubbed the Darling Dude of Cebu during her stay on the show, was invited for questioning after authorities allegedly found marijuana in her baggage that was left in a cab.

The taxi driver surrendered the baggage to the lost and found section of the airport, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) spokesperson Derreck Careon said in a telephone interview.

Carreon said the airport’s personnel subjected the baggage for inspection and found that there was marijuana inside.

The taxi driver later on identified Maitland-Smith as his passenger.

In an interview, Maitland-Smith denied allegations that she owns the marijuana found inside the bag.

“The bag was away from me for a few hours. How can they be so sure that it’s mine?” Maitland-Smith told Sun.Star Cebu.

PDEA agents at NAIA Terminal 3 said they had no sufficient evidence to prove that Maitland-Smith owns the bag.

“There was no arrest, she was just invited for questioning. It is possible that someone planted the marijuana in her (Maitland-Smith) baggage,” Carreon said. (Sunnex)

Maitland-Smith refused to give more details on her discussion with the PDEA after she was invited for the questioning.

“I don’t want to further give a comment regarding it right now but I will issue an official statement in the coming days,” she added. RVC/Sunnex
