MANDAUE City Hall employees were warned not to act as fixers in any transaction for the issuance and renewal of business permits.

Reports have reached the Office of the Mayor that there are City Hall employees who are involved in fixing” in the processing of business permits.

Last Jan. 26, City Administrator Danilo Almendras issued a memorandum reminding employees that the act of “fixing” is prohibited, in relation to the renewal and processing of business permits in Mandaue until Feb. 10.

“Let this be a warning to all that fixing or collusion with fixers in consideration of economic or other gain or advantage is a grave offense under Republic Act 9485, or the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007, and is punishable with dismissal from service and perpetual disqualification to hold public office,” the memorandum read.

Almendras said, though, that they have not apprehended any employee yet.

He said employees may be tempted to engage in fixing for financial gain or getting favors from business owners.

“Some taxpayers who renew their business permits are tempted to use fixers because they are in a hurry,” Almendras said.
