THE charred body found inside a car that was set ablaze Wednesday night, January 31, was that of a Philippine Air Force officer, police said.

Police believed that the man who was killed past 9 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, in Corazon Village in Barangay San Isidro, Talisay City, Cebu, was the same person who was set ablaze inside a car past 10 p.m. on same day in Barangay Valencia, Carcar City, Cebu.

The man who was mauled and shot to death was identified by the police as Staff Sergeant Mark Herbert Oberes, an officer of the Philippine Air Force.

The police said the victim was hurled by the culprits inside a white car. The other culprits boarded a grey vehicle and fled.

Police Officer 2 Joe Marie Villar, Carcar City Police Station desk officer, said they received a telephone call from a resident, informing them that a car was set ablaze.

After the fire was put out by firefighters, the police discovered the burnt body. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
